Blogging in my classroom
I believe that blogging in the classroom will be to the benefit of the students if and only if the students respect the internet. It will work to the advantage of the students in most classroom settings. The light has not begun to shine on the benefit in the math clas yet. I am still waiting for the bells and whistles to go off for something other than a place to keep a record of homework and notes that my students can download from a different location.

Perhaps, in time, the kids will be able to write story problems for the other kids to solve!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about waiting for something to really hit home that will significantly help math classes. I keep thinking that incorporating all of these online forums and blogs in math class is going to seem very forced. I was told that you shouldn't teach a technology lesson. The technology should seamlessly enhance the lesson without even being noticed because it is so natural that it is being used.
ReplyDeleteI also fear that with the deficiencies that our students come to us with that blogging in class will take away valuable teaching time that we need to keep improving our students knowledge of basic mathematical concepts so that we can push them further and expand their knowledge of mathematics that they might find useful in their futures. If we have them blog for homework, they already come to class without their homework completed and now we will be asking them to do more? How will they respond.
