Writing in the classroom
I find that certain students easily begin writing and it seems to flow well. Other students just have a lot of difficulty doing something that is unstructured. I can imagine that it will take time for them to feel the freedom to write whatever is on their mind in the context of appropriate school language, along with the "cops" concept of writing in good form

That is why you have to set exact expectations and objectives explaining what you expect from them via their posts with expectations for content and what they are writing about. I think blogging is a great way to motivate them to write regardless of how they are writing and what they are writing about. We just need to be clear about what they need to accomplish using these blogs with each assignment.
