Science Writing

I think I would use it for clarifying student questions about topics that I cover in class. I could also use it to help student collaborate about topics discussed in class. Perhaps put the students in groups, give them a problem to solve, and they are able to blog about their problem...
The options are almost unlimited. I am sure the students would have ideas about what to blog about as well.

  1. I completely agree. A lot of times I feel like the problem is just students not understand the prompt or question. A blog allows for a more one to one conversation; at the same time everyone can see the answer. I also agree with your idea of clarifying their concerns. A blog keeps your "door" open almost all day to questions and issues.

  2. Not only does a blog allow for students to contact you at any time, it also allows them to ask questions in a format that is more comfortable for them. As a result, students who do not usually ask questions may start asking questions. The blog format also allows students to see questions that are asked by other students. They may find that there is already a blog post that answeres their question, or it will give them confidence knowing that they are not alone in not understanding a concept.
